A Christian visual artist from Manila opened her first solo art exhibition at Abstract Gallery, Door 120, Northpoint Atrium Bldg, B.S. Aquino Drive, Bacolod City on Thursday, which will run until the end of March.
The show titled “Identities” is Criselda Manalo’s second solo exhibition. Her first was held in Manila.
She said the exhibit is in partnership with the Negrosanon Young Leaders Institute, Inc. (NYLI). A portion of its proceeds will go to NYLI to help traumatized children.
“This is close to my heart because I am also one of those who have had a traumatic experience as a child,” Criselda said.
“Identities” is an exhibit focusing on the exploration of the personal identity found through a deep rooted connection with Christ.
“If we are in Christ, He gives us a new identity….We are fearfully and wonderfully made,” Criselda said adding that this is the reason she titled her exhibit “Identities.”
It’s not our experiences, not our past, or whatever we are going through that identifies us. But it is our Creator who can define who we are, she added.
Crisenda’s artworks have already begun to find homes in collections across the Philippines and abroad, as her unique style and captivating compositions resonate with art enthusiasts. Although she is still in the early stages of her career, Criselda’s dedication and passion for painting continue to drive her forward.*
