The month-long campaign against loose firearms and those with expired licenses in Western Visayas, yielded 363 guns and 46 explosives, according to reports of the Police Regional Office 6.

Of the guns and explosives recovered in April, 68 firearms and an explosive were recovered in police operations, with 61 suspects arrested, disclosed PLt. Col. Arnel Solis, PRO 6 Public Information Office chief.

During the same period, a total of 296 firearms and 45 explosives were either surrendered or deposited for safekeeping after their licenses expired, PRO 6 reports further indicated.

In a statement, PBGen Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, praised the involved police units and personnel for their exemplary performance in the campaign.

Wanky ordered them to further strengthen their campaign to monitor those individuals with unlicensed firearms, as they will be the next subjects in the application of search warrants.*
