The Department of Education has issued an advisory stating that all public schools nationwide should implement asynchronous classes and distance learning, in order to allow learners to complete pending assignments, projects and other requirements.

It added that teaching and non-teaching personnel in all public schools shall not be required to report to their stations.

While private schools shall not be covered by advisory, DepEd said they have the option to implement the same.

Last week, many schools in Negros Occidental suspended classes due to extreme heat index.*
