Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has extended the suspension of face to face classes in pre-school, elementary, secondary, and senior high levels for today and tomorrow, due to forecasted high heat index, said Caesar Distrito, the mayor’s spokesperson.

Schools are once again encouraged to adopt alternative delivery modes for instructional methods to benefit their students, Distrito said.

However, private schools with air-conditioned rooms and tertiary-level institutions may exercise discretion and decide to continue with face-to-face classes, he said.

Distrito said the primary consideration of Mayor Albee is health and safety, not only of the students but also of the teachers, due to the scorching heat.*
