Mayor Raymund Tongson leads the Himamaylan City government in welcoming the evaluators from the Department of the Interior and Local Government and Association Negros Producers as the LGU undergoes the regional validation for the Seal of Good Local Governance*

The Himamaylan City Government is vying for its third Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) as the local government unit underwent the regional validation yesterday, a press release from the city’s PIO said.

Mayor Raymund Tongson and heads of offices welcomed the evaluators Jessana Carmela Tatoy and Ruth Geronda of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Sybel Nobleza of the Association of Negros Producers.

Himamaylan was awarded the SGLG for 2022 and 2023 from the DILG, for displaying exceptional management and quality public service.

“It has always been this administration’s thrust to provide exemplary public service for Himamaylanons,” Tongson said.

The city mayor said the SGLG is “a perfect way to validate the efforts and hard work of our LGU, demonstrating our commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective delivery of services to our community.”

He said that the SGLG evaluation highlights the dedication of the people behind the city government to continuously improve and excel in local governance, and deliver quality service.

Through the P7 million from the FY 2022 SGLG – Incentive Fund, the city government  upgraded its security and disaster risk reduction and management efforts with four new rescue vehicles.

For 2023, the city received P2.3 million from the FY 2023 SGLG – IF.*
