Following a bite incident, the Provincial Veterinary Office has launched a sweeping operation inside the Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, by taking stray dogs and cats into its custody.

Provincial Legal Officer Atty. Alberto Nellas yesterday said that 15 stray dogs and cats were accounted for by PVO personnel, who were assisted by Murcia and Bago veterinary offices.

This will ensure the safety of visitors at the Mambukal resort and residents of Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, against rabies, Nellas added.

He further said that the stray animals will be subjected to spay and neuter operations, and rabies vaccination, and to be put in a temporary dog pound area in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, pending their transfer to the PVO center at the Panaad Park in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, for further treatment, before being offered for adoption.*
