The provincial government of Negros Occidental, through the Provincial Sports Office, celebrated the inaugural 2024 Abanse Negrense Panaad Sportsfest on June 28-29 at the Panaad Park and Stadium, bringing together hundreds of Negrense students-athletes to compete in eight sports disciplines.

The multi-sport tournament involved teams from various local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental, as well as from neighboring cities and provinces such as Dumaguete City and Iloilo.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson led the opening ceremony by expressing his gladness to the successful turnout of the event. He also conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the various LGUs in the province, athletes, coaches, trainers, and parents for their support and participation in the first Abanse Negrense Panaad Sportsfest.

In his opening remarks, Lacson expressed his hopes that Negros Occidental will finally earn the champion title in the future regional meets. He said the Panaad Sportsfest aims to provide Negrense athletes with an avenue to showcase their talents and abilities when it comes to sports activities.

The governor also urged the coaches and trainers to update their coaching capabilities, saying the performance of the athletes lie on their hands and reflect the training and techniques they have imparted.
