The Police Regional Office 6 reported the seizure of P6.4 million worth of suspected shabu in week-long anti-illegal drug operations from June 1 to 7, in Western Visayas.

It was the result of 39 anti-drug operations, which also resulted in the apprehension of 55 drug suspects and the recovery of 946 grams of suspected shabu with the total market value of P6.4 million.

Of the 55 arrested suspects, a total of 19 were accounted for by the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, 14 by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, Iloilo City Police Office – 9, Regional Drug Enforcement Unit 6 – 8, Bacolod City Police Office – 3, and one each for the Capiz and Aklan Police Provincial Offices.

The RPDEU 6 has the most confiscations, totaling about 354 grams of ‘shabu’ with an estimated market value of P2.4 million.

While he lauded the accomplishments of the different police units across the region, PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky urged them to continue to intensify their campaign against illegal drugs, to put behind bars those who still engage in illegal drugs peddling, despite their warnings.

“May the arrest of these 55 persons serve as a lesson to the remaining illegal traffickers to stop immediately. If you continue, you are the next subject of our law enforcement operations,” Wanky added in a statement.*
