Two senior citizens were separately shot and killed by still unidentified gunmen on Tuesday in mountainous barangays of Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
A farmer identified as Alfredo Piala Sr. succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot several times by an unidentified gunman on December 21 at Sitio Pison in Brgy, Minautok, Calatrava.
Initial police investigations showed that Piala, 61, was waylaid and shot by the suspect while attending to his carabao in the place.
The victim, who died on the spot, was preferred to be buried immediately by his family members, who, according to the Calatrava police, refused their offer to bring him to the hospital.
Another victim of a shooting incident in Sitio Huebesan, Brgy. Marcelo, Calatrava, was identified by the police as Roberto Sanopao Sr.
Sanopao, 64, was also waylaid and shot by an unidentified suspect while on his way home, police said.
The 64-year-old victim, who succumbed to a gunshot wound in the head, was declared dead on arrival at the Calatrava Rural Health Clinic, police said.*
