Lawyer Leon G. Moya’s family, bearing the brand of public service, donated 10 hectares of land to the Bureau of Corrections in Bago City, recently.

A native of Negros Occidental, Moya offered his property in Bago to cater to persons deprived of liberty from the areas of Negros, Guimaras and Panay islands.

Moya said he is confident that through his donation, the land will be used exclusively for establishing a regional correctional facility in the Western Visayas to deliver its services of safekeeping and reformation of insular inmates.

The ceremonial acceptance of donation was attended by BuCor Assistant Secretary Gabriel P. Chaclag.

Also present were Corrections Technical Chief Superintendent Victor Erick Pascua, Randy G. Serrano, Chito Turalde, Corrections Technical Inspetor Ric Rocacurba and Corrections Technical Senior Officer 2 Angelo Castillo.

The Bureau of Corrections thanks its partners: Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Director, Jail Chief Superintendent Arnold F. Buenacosa; Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Director of Negros Occidental, Police Colonel Romy Inway Palgue; BJMP-RO VI Assistant Regional Director for Adminstration, Jail Senior Superintendent Gilbert D Peremne; Assistant Regional Director for Operations BJMP RO VI/Provincial Administrator, Jail Superintendent Marie Rose Jose Laguyo; and Jail Officer 2 Rene P Venancio.

The donation was initiated by Venancio in coordination with the government agencies concerned.

This is one of the many endeavors of BuCor Director General, USEC Gerald Q Bantag, to sustain organizational developments for its personnel, employees, the PDLs and the community.*
