Almost P1 million worth of illegal drugs have been seized by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the police in separate buy bust operations during the weekend in cities of Bacolod and Silay, all in Negros Occidental, as well as in Iloilo City.
The buy bust operations of PDEA operatives yesterday led to the seizure of an estimated 59 grams of suspected shabu at Purok Lubi in Brgy. 3, Bacolod City.
It resulted in the arrest of a 53-year-old woman and her nephew, a 23-year-old factory worker.
The confiscated shabu had a market value of P401,200.
On Saturday, another suspected drug peddler was also arrested by the police in a buy bust operation at Purok Kalye Onse in Brgy. 2, Silay City.
The arrest of the 48-year-old suspect, a resident of Brgy. Guimbalaon, Silay City, yielded nine sachets of suspected shabu with a market value of P102,000.
The arrested drug suspects are now locked up in jail, pending the filing of charges against them for violation of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
The apprehension of another drug suspect on May 3 at Pavia in Iloilo, also led to the confiscation of an estimated 72 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P489,600.*
