The Art Association of Bacolod-Negros unveiled the “Arte Negrense: FORMA” exhibit, in celebration of National Arts Month, which opened at Calle Catorce Restaurant and Bar, with more than 50 artworks from 24 AABN artists on Thursday.
Guest of honor Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. opened the show alongside Bacolod Councilor Em Ang and AABN president Tey Sevilleno. They were also joined by fashion designer Trude Lizares, daughter of AABN founding father Edgardo “Budot” Lizares, and advertising consultant Lloyd Tronco, son of founding member Larry Tronco.
The families of the founding members of the art group generously shared the works of Lizares and Tronco with AABN to commemorate their important contributions as forerunners of abstract art in Negros.
Arte Negrense is a continuing project with iconic and homegrown establishments like Calle Catorce, bringing art closer to Negrenses and visitors to the island.
“FORMA” is a mix of artworks of abstracts, stylized paintings, and watercolors.
The Forma exhibit features 22 Negrense artists from the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros, presenting a diverse array of abstract expressions. Among them are artists such as Rodney Martinez, Edbon Sevilleno, Fred Orig, Revo Yanson, Lloyd Tronco, and Natalio Alob Jr.
Distinguished women artists are also expected to command attention with their stylized artworks, including AABN president Tey Sevilleno, mosaic artist and watercolorist Gigi Campos, designer Manon Hernaez, Pinky Fuentebella-Lizares, Jenevieve Abeto, Konica Faustino, Princy Martir, Annabelle Apawan, Merle Alova, Mei Lonasco, and Fe Sumagaysay.
Negrense artists Sol Alejandrino, Jaycee Seran, Noah Sian, Ryn Paul Gonzales, and Beto Tiano are also part of the art show.
“FORMA” at Calle Catorce will captivate art enthusiasts until May 31. More information on the exhibit is available via email at aabnegros50@gmail.com or through the link: http://tinyurl.com/AABN-Forma .*
