The Bago City government led by Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Vice Mayor Ramon Torres broke ground for the construction of a cold storage facility beside the Fish Landing Center in the city’s Barangay Poblacion on July 19.
The project is funded through the P7 million incentives given by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for being a national Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) passer in 2022.
Yulo expressed optimism that the postharvest facility will further stir economic activities in the area and help the members of various fisherfolk associations in the city.
The city’s top officials were joined by councilors Ma. Josefa Matti, Jake Patrick Torres, Victor Michael Javellana, Carlos Mondia, Ma. Femmy Alvarez-Martir, and Joseph Colmenares, DILG-Negros Occidental Cluster II head Jean Quistado, and Bago City Local Government Operations Officer Mia Asuncion Gatilogo.
Also present during the groundbreaking rites were City Engineer Joenil Lavadia, City Agriculturist-Designate Marvin John Blance, City Health Officer Dr. Ferdinand Ramon Mayoga, Senior Tourism Operations Officer Mae Ann Furtos, and some members of fisherfolk associations.*
