Unidentified armed men shot a farmer dead in front of his wife, on Saturday at Purok 4 in Brgy. Lagaan, Calatrava, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigations indicated that the victim, a 54-year-old farmer, whose identity was withheld, and his wife, were cultivating their farm lot when the armed men arrived.
Without any reason, the victim was shot several times by the armed suspects, whose affiliation to any armed group is yet to be established by the authorities.
The farmer succumbed to multiple gunshot injuries and was reported by the police to have been declared dead on arrival at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital.*
