Negrense visual artist Tetet Ledesma is holding her solo art exhibition titled “Grateful” at the White Hotel in Burgos Street, Bacolod City, which opened on March 18 and will run for a month.

Carmeli Bantug was guest of honor at the opening of the show, which is a Women’s Month project of Zonta Club-Bacolod.

Ledesma said this is her fourth solo art exhibit. The first was held 14 years ago at Bascon Hotel, followed by another exhibit at Cafe Bobs and a French restaurant.

“I entitled my show ‘Grateful’ because despite all the unpleasant things that are happening around us, we have so much to be grateful for especially for the blessings we have received,” she said.

Ledesma said the exhibit showcases about 20 of her artworks in oil which took her about two years to prepare. It was only this year that she decided to hold an exhibit showcasing her favorite artworks of women and colorful flowers.

She graduated from A.B. Psychology although she had enrolled in Fine Arts at the La Consolacion College for one or two semesters only, she said.

She has been painting since she was about 7-years-old and had attended art classes as a child. She has sold some of her works, which were not so valuable to her, but kept those which she considered her favorite, Ledesma said.

She also loves to paint old houses that bring back old memories. One of her artworks on display was a house of her grandmother in Sagay which they would visit during summer, she said.

Ledesma said her father also draws while she loves to paint. Among the artists she admires are Ben Cabrera and Mexican artist Diego Rivero.

Meanwhile, Zonta Club president Reeda Bantug said that part of the proceeds of the show will fund projects of the club.*
