The online job portal JobStreet continues to reshape the next level of recruitment as it lands in the City of Smiles, Bacolod. The company aims to provide valuable support and opportunities for local hirers and jobseekers through its first-ever “JobStreet Caravan” on Saturday, February 18, at SM City Bacolod.

Hundreds of jobs are available as offered by a total of 30 employers such as BDO, Concentrix, Negros Longlife, Teleperformance, Bounty Fresh, and more. Top roles available in the career fair are customer service representative, administrative assistant, accounting staff, and sales representative, among others.

“Many jobseekers have returned to their provinces or decided to reside outside Metro Manila even after the pandemic. This means we have province-based quality talents that are looking for better career opportunities, so we’re here to help them make it even more possible,” shared Kim Viray, JobStreet Philippines Head of Marketing.

ASSISTING THE FUTURE WORKFORCE

The initiative seeks to bring more employers and jobseekers together as part of JobStreet’s commitment to boosting the labor market by going hyperlocal. Recognizing Bacolod as one of the emerging top hubs for commerce in the country, thus holding daily on-ground caravans at local universities this week. This is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), City of Bacolod and the LGU’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

The brand’s officers have been in Bacolod for the week, touring Bacolod schools like the University of St. La Salle Bacolod and La Consolacion College. Through the campus tour, students and aspiring professionals learned relevant job-hunting tips and up-to-date career insights for the youth. JobStreet also took the opportunity to meet local hirers, highlighting the brand’s effort in empowering companies in the new normal.

A BRIGHT SPOT

According to JobStreet’s internal database, over 100,000 jobseekers in the platform are based in Negros Occidental. Meanwhile 47% of hirers in the whole Western Visayas are found in Negros Occidental. In addition to this, industries like IT/BPO, Hospitality, Retail, and Food & Beverage, among others are flourishing, demonstrating Bacolod’s standing as a business-friendly city outside Cebu in the Visayas region.

JobStreet shares that the hottest job vacancies in Bacolod are Operations Support, Sourcing Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Talent Acquisition Specialist, Industrial Engineer, and many more. This reveals the potential of the province’s job market to thrive post-pandemic, eventually leading to a boost in the local economy and improved quality of life among businesses and candidates.

Consequently, JobStreet encourages local applicants to persevere with seeking better job opportunities that fit their needs, and also learn helpful career ad vice and tips on the platform. Hirers, on the other hand, are urged to discover and adapt to the latest job market trends that will equip them in finding the right talent that brings value to their business.

“Our week-long caravan marks our first-ever on-ground activity after the pandemic, and we’re glad to have commenced this initiative in Bacolod. We look forward to reaching out to more candidates and hirers not just in the Western Visayas but also in other parts of the country to make our vision of providing jobs to Filipinos more attainable,” said Gian Lorenzo Adato, hirer marketing lead.

The Career Fair marks the final activity of JobStreet for their Bacolod stint. Jobseekers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and applying for vacancies that fit their qualifications. The one-day Career Fair at the northwing of SM City Bacolod runs from at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on February 23.*
