Bishop Elenito Varon, senior pastor of The Great Shepherd Church, and Rev. Phil Seckler led the opening of an art exhibition yesterday at The Inns by the Oriental in Bacolod City in observance of the Holy Week celebration.
Titled “Lilies of Resurrection,” the show was organized by the Christian Artists National Various Arts Society (CANVAS), in partnership with the Babayi Art Group, and will run until April 7.
Pastor Daniel Bayles, president of CANVAS, said they started the exhibit as a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ when his father, Pastor Arthur Bayles was still alive.
“We all know that the Holy Week is a very important week to all of us Christians. We all are celebrating the timeless grace and boundless love of Jesus Christ towards us. He is also called the Lily of the Valley, and like the delicate petals of the lily, his teachings have wisdom, offering hope for all of us,” he said.
The show features the works of Daniel Bayles, Elijah Bayles, Jasper Bayles, Karen Bayles, Miriam Bayles, Myrrh Bayles, Sky Bayles, Nilda Claveraz, Tina de Jose, Konica Faustino, Michael David Frijas, Jeffrey Gamala, Azel Faith Guevara, Mary Joy Lopez, Janice Madalag, Juliet Emperado, Emai Sasedor, Agustin Tragico, Allan Daniel Varon, Elenito Joseph Varon, and Isaiah Philip Varon.*
