The DENR PENRO Negros Occidental, through its Planning and Management Section, conducted its Provincial Statistical Quiz Contest in celebration of the 34th National Statistics Month with the theme, “Accelerating Progress: Promoting Data and Statistics for Healthy Philippines”.
The contest seeks to test the knowledge of employees on a range of topics related to statistics, math, general information, science and current events. It was participated by representatives from the MSD, TSD, CENROs Bago, Cadiz, Kabankalan, MKNP, NNNP, SMR and TSPS.
PENRO Joan Gerangaya in his message encouraged everyone to continue equipping themselves with the latest information and updates related to statistics in dealing with environment related activities.
CENRO Bago Representative Rafael Deles emerged as the Champion of this year’s Provincial ENR Statistical Quiz Contest, followed by Christele Tombiga from PENRO-TSD as 1st Place, and Mirzi Lyn Escolta of NNNP, 2nd Place.
Deles and Tombiga will represent PENRO Negros Occidental for the Regional ENR Statistical Quiz Contest to be held on October 19, 2023 at the DENR Activity Center, Iloilo City.
Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647, “Declaring the Month of October of Every Year as the National Statistics Month,” the NSM is annually observed nationwide. The NSM aims to: 1) promote, enhance, and instill awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and 2) elicit the cooperation and support of the general-public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.*
