Eighteen Negrense women, who are returning overseas Filipino workers, received P10,000 in financial assistance each from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO).
The recipients, who are beneficiaries of the Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay (BPBH), under the OWWA Livelihood Development Assistance Program, received the financial assistance Friday, in a ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol Social in Bacolod City.
The BPBH is a training cum-production for displaced or distressed women OFWs that supports the beneficiaries to start and operate livelihood undertaking for self-employment through skills training and distribution of cash assistance.
WOMEN OFW BENEFICIARIES
It gives assistance to returning women OFWs, who are affected by conflict or economic crisis, whose contracts were terminated due to natural, or man-made disasters, and the pandemic that occurred in their host country, or are victims of illegal recruitment or trafficking.
Qualified returning OFWs may avail of startup kit worth P10,000 under the OWWA Livelihood Development Assistance Program, OWWA regional director Rizza Joy Moldes said.
The recipients are Marthie Rivera Juany Collin Galvez, Ednalyn Castillo, Mardy Gonzales, Chris Jane Puzon, Cristina Cose, Genevieve Sombesi, Jenny Montillano, Lilia Jacosalem, Nelma Ebo, Rose Ann Delfinado, Rosalie Endrina, Jordah Migallos, Ritchelle Gonzales, Jenalyn Pasquin, Michella Parohinog and Jingkie Drilon.
Six other beneficiaries, who are residents of Victorias City, also received similar financial assistance, the OWWA said.
Under the OWWA-NRCO sa Pinas Ikaw and Ma’am at Sir (SPIMS) program, the OFW reintegration convergence project of the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Education and other government agencies also provides opportunities for OFW LET passers to return, find employment and practice their profession as teachers.
The beneficiaries of the SPIMS are Khenet Araña,Roberto Belarmino,Ahlynda Filosopo and Aloha May Pentillo. They are entitled to receive P20,000 Teaching Kit Assistance, OWWA added.*GPB
