Two executive assistants of the outgoing Leonardia administration have tendered their resignations which took effect yesterday.

Executive assistant Jose Maria Vargas, Cluster head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, said he still reported to his office on his last day of work yesterday.

Vargas said the resignation of other executive assistants took effect last May 30 so they could process their terminal pay while that of his and EA Ernesto Pineda took effect yesterday.

During his six-year stint as executive assistant of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, he said they were able to install 112 CCTV cameras in different strategic areas in Bacolod, as well as put in place the city’s flood control program.

Vargas thanked all the Bacolodnons for helping him while he was in office particularly the barangays for submitting their respective disaster management plans. At least the incoming administration will have no problem since the barangays already have their disaster management plan, he said.

Before he joined the city government, Vargas served as chief of staff of former Neg. Occ. Governor Rafael “Lito” Coscolluela.

Meanwhile, Pineda served as Cluster head of the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) – Sectoral Concerns Office, head of Price Monitoring Unit Section of CMO, chief coordinator of Market Coordinating Task Force, Cluster head of the City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office under the CMO, Cluster head of Socio-Economic Enterprise, and Cluster head of Bacolod Housing Authority, City Market and City Veterinary Service and Slaughter House*
