The second edition of Kurit sa Layag painting contest winners were named, after a fluvial procession at Bantayan Park in Bago City, Negros Occidental, yesterday, marking the feast of St. John the Baptist, the city’s patron saint.
Cluster 6, composed of Barangays Lag-asan, Poblacion, Pacol, and Bagroy was awarded first place and took home P20,000 in cash prize.
Cluster 2, composed of Barangays Calumangan, Bacong, Sagasa, and Dulao was second place and received P15,000 in cash prize, while Cluster 1, composed of Barangays Ma-ao, Ilijan, Binubuhan, and Mailum, was third place and received P10,000 in cash prize.
About six clustered Barangays competed in the Kurit sa Layag painting contest initiated by the Bago City Tourism Office. According to its City Senior Tourism Operations Officer Mae Ann Furtos, this event serves as a venue to showcase and promote the Bagonhons artistry and talents through their interpretation of the story of Bago which is celebrating its 449th Foundation Anniversary today.*
