Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday confirmed the issuance of a show cause order to Provincial Tourism Officer Cheryl Decena and several employees of Mambukal Resort and Wildlife Sanctuary in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental, for unliquidated cash advances.

Lacson, however, said the serving of show cause order to Decena, who was then assigned at the Mambukal Resort, and some of its employees, is not a “big deal” since they were just reminded to liquidate cash advances, the deadline of which was supposed to be last year.

Maybe, they were doing other things. They just need to liquidate it, he said, noting that the cash advances were in line with the operations of the Mambukal Resort.

Prior to her designation as Provincial Tourism Officer, Decena used to be the head of the Capitol-managed mountain resort.

While he has yet to determine the amount to be liquidated, Lacson strongly denied reports that it amounted to P30 million.*
