A total of 1,205 police personnel engaged in the anti-drug campaign in Western Visayas are scheduled to undergo vetting and retraining, in compliance with the counter-intelligence process of the Philippine National Police, regional police director Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan, said yesterday.
This is to re-evaluate and re-assess the status of the police personnel assigned at the drug enforcement units in municipal, city, provincial and regional levels, Pamuspusan said.
The PNP Counter-Intelligence Teams has been tasked by the PRO 6 to strictly monitor and validate the performance and other activities of Drug Enforcement Units members Personnel who will fail in the evaluation will be relieved from the DEU, Pamuspusan added.
Before their assignment in DEU units, these police personnel have already undergone the stringent vetting process, where their names were published outside police stations for the scrutiny of the community, as well as drug testing.
Those assigned to the DEU, must be certified to have no involvement in any illegal drug activity, and without any derogatory records, aside from being physically, morally and mentally fit, Pamuspusan said.*
