Separate police operations in Negros Occidental yielded five assorted firearms, an explosive, and suspected shabu on February 23 and 24, with five suspects, including a minor, being arrested.

The arrest of a 49-year-old fisherman during a raid at his residence at Purok Mahigugmaon in Brgy. Maricalum, Sipalay City, on Friday, by virtue of a search warrant, yielded a hand grenade, a .45 caliber pistol, a .38 caliber revolver with two ammunition, and a homemade 12-gauge shotgun with three ammunition.

A buy bust operation in Brgy. Guadalope, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Saturday, also led to the arrest of three drug suspects, including a minor.

Their apprehensions also yielded an estimated 2.70 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P18,360, a Smith and Wesson .357 caliber revolver with six ammunition, and P400 in marked money.

The arrest of a 25-year-old construction worker on Saturday, in another buy bust operation at Purok Lagang in Brgy. Zone 3, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, also led to the seizure of an estimated 1.5 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P10,200, and a caliber .22 revolver with four ammunition.

The four arrested suspects, whose names were withheld by the police, are now locked up in jail, while the minor is now under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.*
