Mayor Nicholas Yulo has locked down the entire Barangay Ma-ao and six puroks of Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta in Bago City with a combined population of 7,010 that have experienced a spike in COVID-19 cases.

He declared the areas Critical Zones and placed them under Enhanced Community Quarantine imposing stringent limitations on the movement of residents.

The lockdown took effect 12:01 a.m. today and will end at 11:59 p.m. on September 22, the mayor said.

He also said the Bago City Hall that was set to reopen yesterday will instead reopen tomorrow because not all the COVID-19 test results of those tested have been released.

Meanwhile, Yulo said a liquor ban will be imposed in Barangay Ma-ao and the six puroks of Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta during the lockdown.

Barangay Ma-ao has 15 active confirmed COVID-19 cases, 39 probable cases and more than 50 suspected cases which affect its 13 puroks, he said.

The six puroks locked down in Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta are Astro Montara, Violeta I, Violeta II, Crossing La Carlota, Kawilihan, and Purok Brgy. Site.

There are five COVID-19 positive cases and suspected cases affecting the six puroks, the mayor said.*
