8 Negros Occ LGUs achieve 70% herd immunity

Eight of the 31 municipalities and component cities of Negros Occidental have achieved more than 70 percent of the target in achieving herd immunity against COVID-19 as of January 2 this year, according to data from the Provincial Health Office, released yesterday by Provincial Inter Agency Task Force action officer Rayfrando Diaz.

La Carlota City already inoculated 112.03 percent of its targeted population, Murcia 97.78 percent, Sagay City 76.18 percent, Talisay City 75.82 percent, Cadiz City 75.73 percent, Victorias City 75.44 percent, EB Magalona 75.29 percent and Pulupandan 73.43 percent.

Inching towards the 70 percent are Silay City 69.77 percent, San Enrique 66. 59 percent, Ilog 64.54 percent and Bago City 63.14 percent.

In the same period, Negros Occidental was able to vaccinate 1,111,083, or 60.87 percent of P1.8 million targeted population.

Of the figure, PHO reports showed that 47.08 percent or 769,746 had already been fully vaccinated, while 714,287 more are to be vaccinated.

On the other hand, there are 11 local government units which have achieved below 50 percent of the target for vaccination program, including Calatrava – 37.48 percent, Moises Padilla – 40.90 percent, Toboso – 41.03 percent, Manapla – 43.38 percent, San Carlos City – 44.19 percent, Cauayan – 44.21 percent, La Castellana – 45.09 percent, Isabela – 47.08 percent, Hinobaan – 47.79 percent, Hinigaran – 48.73 percent, and Sipalay City – 49.11 percent.

Diaz, however, said that the remaining 714,287 individuals to be vaccinated before the end of February, as targeted by Gov. Lacson, is still achievable.*
