The search continued yesterday for a retired police officer, who was swept away by a flashflood in Hinobaan, Negros Occidental on June 1.
Meanwhile, the 185 families, composed of 520 individuals, in 17 barangays of six local government units affected by flashfloods in the province have returned to their homes, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian said.
The missing person was identified by Caelian as retired police officer Dakie Dacuscus, whose wife, Jennylyn, was found alive on June 2 in Sitio Bagtik, Brgy. Bulwangan, Hinobaan.
Caelian, in his situational report submitted to Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, said yesterday that the vehicle driven by Dacuscus was reported to have been carried away by a strong current in Brgy. Bulwangan, Hinobaan, on June 1.
Another missing person, identified as Edmund Villaluz, was also rescued alive from the territorial waters of Brgy. Asia, also in Hinobaan, Caelian said.
Incidents of landslides were also reported in Brgy. Santol, Binalbagan, and in Brgy. Maricalum, Sipalay City. The flashflood-affected families are residents of Hinobaan, Binalbagan, Isabela, EB Magalona, Talisay and Himamaylan.*
