The provincial government of Negros Occidental yesterday bagged the Excellence in Environmental Governance and trophies in six other categories, during the 2022 Excellence in Local Governance Awards held in Iloilo City.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz also said that the province was adjudged as first runner-up in Excellence in Economic Governance, Excellence in Local Legislation, Excellence in Administrative Governance and Excellence in Social Governance. It also placed second runner-up in Excellence in Public Safety, Peace, and Order.
The Excell Awards, given by the Department of Interior and Local Government in Western Visayas, recognizes local government units for their best practices in Administrative Governance, Social Governance, Economic Governance, Environmental Governance, Local Legislation, and Public Safety, Peace and Order.
The Regional Validating Team of the 2022 Excell Awards earlier conducted an onsite validation in Negros Occidental, which was among the top three shortlisted provinces vying for the regional award. Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said the awards come with a cash prize.
Diaz said overall winner gets a P30,000 cash prize, with 2nd place winner gets P20,000, and P10,000 for the 3rd place winner.*
