A resolution urging the Office of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to implement City Ordinance No. 998, series of 2022, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod yesterday.
Authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang, the resolution said C.O. 998, series of 2022 was passed last June 2022 to provide gratuity pay and burial assistance to barangay officials who have served at least one term in any barangay in the city, to recognize their efforts in serving their constituents while putting their lives and safety at risk, especially during the global pandemic.
As barangay officials, they are the enforcers of laws and ordinances which are applicable to their respective barangays and they are also mandated to maintain peace and order in their respective premises and jurisdiction, it said.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod recognizes the need to implement the said ordinance to give them the financial assistance they deserve for serving their fellow Bacolodnons during extraordinary times, hence, this resolution, it added.*
