Two more COVID-19 positive patients and three others suspected to have been hit by the virus, including the nephew of Bacolod City Administrator Em Ang, have died.

Dr. Dolores Rommela Tiples-Ruiz, who specializes in infectious diseases, said one COVID-19 positive patient and three others suspected to have been hit by the virus in Bacolod City died Sunday.

The Department of Heath yesterday also reported one death in Negros Occidental, identified as a 46-year-old male from Pontevedra.

Ang said her nephew, Engineer Carl Andrew Geocadin, 35, who worked for a call center went on home quarantine after he was exposed to a COVID-19 positive co-worker.

He was swabbed for COVID-19 test but the result has yet to be released. Her nephew had no existing illness, and did not manifest any COVID-19 symptoms, Ang said.

At 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the sixth day that he had been on home quarantine, her nephew even had a video call with his 6-year-old daughter, Ang added.

At noon Sunday, his mother went to the place where he was staying to deliver his lunch but he was not answering his phone and opening the door when she knocked, Ang said.

When they finally managed to open the door with a key from the outside, her nephew was not feeling well and his speech was slurred so he was rushed to the Adventist Medical Center-Bacolod, she added.

When he arrived at the hospital at about 2 p.m. he was intubated and given Remdesivir, and he passed away at past 6 p.m. Sunday, she said, adding that his sudden turn for the worse was unexpected.*
