Patrolling Army soldiers yesterday figured in two armed clashes with suspected remnants of the dismantled Central Negros 2 guerilla front in Brgy. Carol-an, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Initial military reports indicated that soldiers of the 94th Infantry Battalion encountered about 10 NPA rebels.
Lt. Col. Van Donald Almonte, 94IB commander, reported that no soldiers were hurt, while traces of bloodstains were discovered at the encounter sites, which indicated that some fleeing rebels may have been injured in the gun battle.
Pursuit operations were still ongoing as of last night.*
