The Bacolod City government is eyeing a Guinness World Record for the most number of couples to tie the knot in a single-venue mass wedding activity, in an event slated for 2 p.m. today, at the Bacolod City Government Center

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez has confirmed that First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will represent President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the mass wedding, dubbed “Officially, You and Me sa ‘23 with Mayor Albee.”

“I asked the Guinness (Book of) World Records if we could qualify. There’s none yet in just one venue. They have (a record) for multiple venues of mass wedding but (this number) in a single venue, there’s no record yet,” Benitez said.

He also announced that lucky couples will be given livelihood packages, through a raffle.

On March 23, 28 couples participated in a special mass wedding rites officiated by Mayor Benitez at the BCGC.* with PNA reports
