Bacolod firefighters awarded

Bacolod Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Rodel Legaspi, together with 19 firefighters from the Bacolod City Fire Station received the “Medalya ng Pagtulong sa Nasalanta” during the 48th Fire Service Recognition Day of the Bureau of Fire Protection at EON Centennial Hotel and Water Park, Alta Tierra Village, Jaro, Iloilo last December 20, 2021.

The event with the theme, “Pagtugon ng Bomberong Pilipino sa Hamon ng Modernisasyon,” was attended by different BFP officers and personnel of Region 6, a press release from BFP-Bacolod said.

The award was given by BFP regional director Senior Supt. Jerry Candido, together with special guest honor and speaker Philippine Coast Guard Commander Edgar Ybañez of the PCG District Western Visayas.

Candido said the awardees displayed exemplary performance and profound dedication to public service during the conduct of rescue and relief operations of 15 individuals including an infant during the onslaught of Typhoon Dante last June 5, 2021.

Among those who received the awards of the BFP Region 6 were Bacolod Fire Marshall Rodel Legaspi, Operations Chief SFO2 Restito Salon, Battalion 1 Supervisor SFO1 Gelvin Mapa, Community Relations Unit Chief FO3 Carlo Vincent Mallari, Fire Truck operator FO2 Jed Antonio Cartagena, Nozzlemen FO2 Rolyn Paladin and FO1 Rudy Gelogo, Public Information Officer FO1 Paul Servano, Benefits Morale and Welfare Section Chief and former Operations Clerk FO1 Joanzen Estrella, and Radio and Telephone Operators FO1 Michelle Aguirre and FO1 Rhea Victoria  Tamisen.

Fire Sub Stations (FSS) personnel from Pahanocoy FSS and Sum-ag FSS also given medals were FSS Supervisors SFO2 Inocencio Mediodia and SFO1 Benjie Dianne de Paula, Fire Truck Operators FO3 Jayson Dela Peña and FO2 Michael Angelo Janobas, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Assistant Chief FO2 Lorbel Mae Arrobang, Nozzlemen FO1 Michael Gonzales, FO1 Ernie Benguelo, FO1 Ben Andico, and EMS Crews, FO1 Michelle Charm Barzo, and FO1 Lora Joyce D Eria.

On the other hand, the BFP Special Rescue Force (SRF) of Negros Occidental also received the Medalya ng Papuri and Medalya ng Pagtulong sa Nasalanta for their commitment to service manifested thru the competence of firefighters in responding to any emergencies and dedication to service.

The SRF is presently housed at Bacolod City Fire Station.*
