“We are ready to be escalated to a higher community quarantine status,” executive director, Em Ang, of the Emergency Operations Center said yesterday.

Ang, who is also the city administrator, said that there is no formal announcement yet as to the new quarantine status of Bacolod, although the cases of coronavirus disease 2019 in the city were higher this April than last month.

She said that if the gate-keeping parameters of the National Inter-Agency Task Force will be the basis, it is most likely that Bacolod will be elevated to a stricter quarantine status.

“The City is prepared in case we shift from Modified General Community Quarantine to a different status,” Ang said.

EOC records show that from April 1 to 23, Covid cases in Bacolod already reached 1,039, with 21 deaths.

Meanwhile, more than 800 senior citizens have already been inoculated against Covid-19 in Bacolod City, Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical and data analysis of the EOC, said. Sorongon said the elderly will receive their second dose of the vaccine after three weeks.*
