Bacoleña Tracey Carlyn Tan conquered the tournament at the summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City, during the SCTBA DRS SAVE EYE CARE Bowling Open Championship on March 21-26, a duly sanctioned tournament of the Philippine Bowling Federation.

Tracey, a Grade 10 student of St. John’s Institute and daughter of Mary Margaret and Jose Tan Jr., displayed her excellent form, from the qualifying sessions to the masters event, in both the Rookie Division and the Mixed Classified event.

On March 25, Tan scored 1289 pinfalls, which bested powerhouse Myke Sia (PTBA Henrich) who had 1191 pinfalls and 1187 pinfalls of Diosa Millora (DATBI), in a tight battle for the Rookie Division.

On the following day of competition, she then fought in a heavily contested championship at the Mixed Classified division, where Tracey scored 1890 pinfalls to beat the eventual Champion for the Seniors division, Vener Reasonda (PTBA), who scored 1809, and SCTBA stalwart John Paul Go, who scored 1774.

Tracey never lost her composure and displayed her winning form in the final games of both events.  She rose to the occasion by closing out the games on the 9th frame.

In victory – Tracey lifted both Trophies for her family, her organization – Sugarbowl Tenpin Bowling Association Inc. (STAI), the City of Bacolod and the Province of Negros Occidental in triumph.*
