Bago City Police Station head was named one of the top 10 female personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the Flag Raising and Awarding Ceremony held Monday, March 7, at Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, Bago City police chief, was awarded a Medal and Plaque by the Chief PNP, PGen Dionardo B. Carlos, and Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Chairperson, Sandra S. Montano.

In an interview with Youlink Community News (YCN), Malong expressed that she is overwhelmed by the recognition given by the national headquarters and PCW on the small acts of kindness that she and her fellow officers in Bago City Police Station have done for the community.

“We are not only here to protect but also to serve the community personally through the little acts of kindness that we can share every single day,” Malong added.

The station has been sponsoring 25 students from Don George Elementary School, visiting the community, and sharing cash from their own pockets, groceries, and other food items.

The awarding was also timely to the PNP’s 2022 National Women’s Month Celebration highlighting the empowerment of women as active contributors and claim holders of development emphasizing the 10 awardees’ exemplary and heartwarming acts beyond the call of duty.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief General Dionardo Carlos, in a report also extended his sincerest congratulations to the Female PNP awardees for their dedication and exemplary services. Adding that the PNP has already accomplished much when it comes to developing policies, plans, guidelines, mechanisms, and best practices that give great bearing to women in Philippine society and promote women empowerment and gender equality in the organization but there is still more work to be done.

This year’s National Women’s Month is themed “We Make Change Work for Women” with the sub-theme: “Agenda ng Kababaihan Tungo sa Kaunlaran”, “Malasakit at Pagbabago”.*YCN
