The blood donation drive of mayoralty bet Alfredo Benitez on January 16 led to the collection of 21,500cc of blood from 43 volunteers, an activity co-organized by the Betty Bantug Benitez Foundation, Nikki Cares Foundation and Abang Lingkod partylist group.

Called “Sulong ABByan, Sugpon Kabuhi”, the blood that had been collected will be reserved for patients needing blood transfusion in the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, which is line with his advocacy to enhance access of Bacolodnons to adequate health care, Benitez said in a statement he issued.

“We thank our donors and volunteers for responding to our call for blood donations to save lives. Padayon kita mag-updanay para sa kaayong lawas,” he further said in a statement.

To ensure the safety of the blood collection procedure, the activity observed physical distancing and other health precautions in compliance with the guidelines set by government authorities to prevent spread of COVID-19, the statement said.*
