The first 11-a-side football pitch equipped with synthetic turf in the Western Visayas Region will soon rise in Victorias National High School in Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez and ACT CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo led the groundbreaking ceremony on April 27, also assisted by Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Portia Mallorca.
Benitez proudly emphasized in his message that it is the first-ever 11-a-side football pitch with synthetic turf in the region.
The mayor said he aspires to make Victorias City a sports tourism hub in Negros Occidental.
The new football pitch will not only enhance the training and competition experience for student-athletes but will augment a bright future for the local sports industry.
Negros Occidental Regional Football Association, led by their President Jose Miguel Valmayor, Victorias City Schools Division Office, local football associations, and VNHS faculty and students, were present to witness the groundbreaking ceremony.
The pitch is set to be completed after five months, said a statement from the City Public Information Office.*
