Work at the Hall of Justice in Bacolod City was halted yesterday following a bomb threat.

A lawyer from the Public Attorney’s Office received a call from an unidentified Hiligaynon-speaking man at about 8 a.m., saying that bombs had been planted at the HOJ building and will explode after an hour, P/Captain Vincent Paul Pendon, Station 2 chief, said.

Pendon said a team from their station, and members of the Special Weapons and Tactics from the Bacolod City Police Office were dispatched to the HOJ to clear the area.

He said that members of the bomb squad from the Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Bureau of Investigation searched the area for four hours but did not find any explosive.

Pendon added they are still trying to establish the reason for the bomb scare.

In April this year, a bomb scare also occurred at HOJ but Pendon said they do not know if it came from the same person who called yesterday.

After the HOJ was cleared, the employees returned to work and hearings scheduled yesterday resumed.*
