The renewed interest of BACIWA PrimeWater in the provincial government’s proposed bulk water project was described yesterday by Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz as a “welcome development.”

Diaz, however advised BACIWA PrimeWater to submit a Letter of Intent, duly signed by a person with authority from its Board of Directors, before they will consider anything official.

From there, we hope to make the right adjustments, he added.

The provincial government of Negros Occidental is holding an investor’s forum in June, where three big companies have earlier indicated their interest in the proposed multi-million bulk water project.

Diaz said he already had series of meetings with those in the private sector who expressed interest in the project.

He added that water districts from Talisay City up to Manapla, in the second district of Negros Occidental, have already submitted their Letters of Intent, with the specified volume of water they need.

The surface water of Malogo and Imbang rivers in the 3rd district of Negros Occidental will be tapped by the provincial government for the bulk water project.

Diaz also said that there are other sources of water being offered for development to the provincial government.

But if the proposals are approved and accepted by Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, Diaz said it will benefit other local government units, noting that Bago City and Pulupandan also expressed their interest in a similar bulk water project.*
