The Philippine National Police reported yesterday that 336 of the 601 barangays in Negros Occidental have been declared as “drug-cleared” as of May 27.

The number represents 55.90 percent of all Negros Occidental barangays, excluding the highly-urbanized Bacolod City, according to PLt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.

Of the 61 Bacolod City barangays, 13 have also been declared as drug-cleared, a report of the Bacolod City Police Office said.

Meanwhile, officials of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Western Visayas, led by regional director Alex Tablate, met on July 4 Mayor Alfredo Benitez, in connection with their anti-drug campaign in Bacolod City.

Under the administration of Benitez, Tablate said he is hoping that more barangays in Bacolod City will be declared as drug-cleared.*
