One debate maybe enough for Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, who is aiming for a second term as governor of Negros Occidental.

Lacson, who participated in the virtual town hall debate organized by the UP Law Alumni Association Negros Occidental Chapter, Philippine Daily Inquirer and the University of St. La Salle on January 15, admitted that he was “not comfortable with debates and it did not help,” stressing that they were only given one minute to answer.

“One is enough, the objective is to win the election, and it can be done in some other way,” he pointed out.

Lacson faced off against his main contender, Atty. John Orola.

The debate was in a town hall format where the participants answered questions from representatives of different sectors and from the public.

Asked to rate his performance during the debate, Lacson gave himself a “5”.

That would be the only debate I will join in for this election,” he stressed, apparently shooting down the possibility that he will participate in other debates during the campaign period.*
