Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental, will soon have a new and modern police station.
PBrig. Gen. Jack Wanky, regional police director of Western Visayas, and PCol. Rainerio de Chavez, officer in charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, assisted Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson, in the groundbreaking rites of the new police station in Brgy. Talaban, HImamaylan City, on February 27.
The PNP provided a P25 million fund for the new police station, while the local government of Himamaylan City, donated a 2,000 square meter lot.
P/Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan police chief, said construction will begin immediately, with completion being targeted within a period of one year.
The new police station is about 300 meters from the current police station, which is adjacent to the Himamaylan City Hall.
The new PNP building will feature a roof deck and will accommodate various offices and a large detention facility, capable of housing 25 detainees.
Grande said the new police station will have enough office space for the city police force.
In a statement, Wanky acknowledged the groundbreaking ceremony as a reflection of the fortified relationship among the PNP, local government units (LGUs), and the community.
Wanky committed to ensure the city’s safety, “essential for its progress and the peace and order that every Himamaylan resident deserves.”
The new facility is expected to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness in serving and protecting the local community.*
