PRO6 lauds NOCPPO, BCPO for share in ‘Birada Semana’

The Police Regional Office 6 has lauded both the Bacolod City Police Office, as well as Negros Occidental and Iloilo Police Provincial Offices for being the biggest contributors in the campaign against loose firearms, wanted persons, anti-illegal drugs and gambling operations in Western Visayas, during the period from October 18 to 24.

Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, spokesperson of the PRO6 on Tuesday said that the seven-day relentless campaign of PRO6 on anti-criminality such as pursuit of wanted persons, illegal drugs, illegal gambling and loose firearms yielded excellent results.

Dubbed as “Birada Semana,” Solis said that the focused operations led to the arrest of 170 wanted persons, 33 drugs suspects that led to the recovery of 306 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P2.08 million.

He also reported that 161 violators of illegal gambling, which also yielded P41,565 in cash bets and recovery of 150 firearms.

The top three contributors in campaign against wanted persons and loose firearms were the Negros Occidental and Iloilo Police Provincial Offices, as well as the Bacolod City Police Office headed by PCol. Joseph Martir.

For Illegal gambling operations and on surrendered firearms, NOCPPO, IPPO and Iloilo City Police Office were the highest contributors, while BCPO, NOCPPO and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit have the highest number of successful operations against illegal drugs, Solis said.

Brig. Gen Rolando Miranda, Western Visayas police director, congratulated all WV police units for delivering the accomplishments, stressing the achievements are manifestation of the Philippine National Police’s serious campaign against all forms of illegal activities in Region 6.

“These efforts will not stop here, we will sustain these operations”, Miranda said.

“Birada Semana” is PRO6’s initiative to sustain its efforts in accomplishing targets through sustained and intelligence driven police operations.*
