Residents of Purok Fire in Barangay 8, Bacolod City, asked the help of Task Force Kasanag yesterday on their complaint against the closure of their main passageway after a perimeter fence was built by the Bacolod Bureau of Fire Protection.

John Chiong, TFK commander, said yesterday that 25 to 28 affected families have requested help to air their concern to the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the national BFP office.

The residents are set to file a legal complaint and this will be forwarded by the TFK to the national BFP, Chiong said.

He also said he assured the residents during their meeting yesterday that their concern will also be brought to the attention of Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

Affected residents staged a protest Thursday, claiming that the local BFP constructed the perimeter fence without any formal prior notice.

Fire Senior Supt. Jerry Candido, BFP-6 regional director, said the fencing project has not been turned over to them yet, and procedures need to be followed if there are alterations to be done.

Brgy. 8 captain Johanna Magalona said there is another passageway behind the facility but the land is privately owned and could also be closed any time.*
