Policemen have seized about P100,000 worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes on Monday night at a checkpoint in Brgy. 1 Poblacion, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
The confiscation was triggered after the police flagged down a black Mazda pickup, and the driver, a 45-year-old businessman, failed to present a driver’s license.
While conducting a plain view search, the police discovered that the vehicle was loaded with four boxes of New Berlin brand cigarettes, and the driver also failed to present the required documents.
Both the driver and suspected smuggled cigarettes are now in the custody of the San Carlos City Police Station.*
