The residents of Barangay Buenavista Rizal in the Municipality of Pontevedra, will shortly enjoy the benefits the sun brings with the installation of a solar-powered water distribution system with Programmable Logic Control Water Tender Equipment.
To help equip workers with the necessary skills to run and maintain the system, the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) Visayas in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bacolod-Marapara and Pontevedra LGU, recently launched an 80-hour technical training workshop.
“Negros Island has been dubbed the renewable energy capital of the Philippines. The installation of this solar-powered water distribution system designed and developed by TUP Visayas is another example of the forward thinking of the community,” said Eric Malo-oy of Marapara Rotary in a press release.
The beneficiaries of the Electrical Trade, Basic Motor Controls and Solar Power Energy Technical Training workshop are 30 out-of-school youth, displaced workers and barangay residents.*
