The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod approved an ordinance amending City Ordinance 850, series of 2018, or “An ordinance granting gratuity pay to all qualified accredited barangay health workers (BHW) in Bacolod City”.

The ordinance, authored by Councilor Cindy Rojas, said the BHWs current allowance is not sufficient to cover their daily expenses in the performance of their duties and responsibilities to the people of Bacolod City.

So the SP enacted an ordinance amending Section 2, Paragraph b of C.O. 850 which provides that the mandatory age for BHWs to end rendering health services is 65 years. It also amended Section 5 of C.O. 850 which provides that all accredited barangay health workers, who in the performance of their duties, upon reaching either the optional or mandatory age for end of service in accordance to the number of years he/she served will receive P1,000 for every year of service (15 to 24 years), P1,250 for every year of service (25 to 34 years), and P1,500 for every year of service (35 years and above).*CGS
