A sugar planter is now locked up in jail, following his arrest on March 27 in Candoni, Negros Occidental, for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Rodney Magbanua, operatives of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Provincial Intelligence Unit, assisted by the town police, troopers of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Group and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, raided the residence of Amado Quiapo Jr., alias Panoy, at Mabini Street in Brgy. West Candoni.
The raid resulted in the recovery of a Colt .45 caliber pistol with a magazine containing seven ammunition and a fragmentation grenade, as well as the apprehension of Quiapo Jr.
PCapt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday debunked reports that illegal gambling paraphernalia and cash bets were also recovered during the raid.
Catalogo said policemen involved in the raid wore body cameras to ensure that the conduct of operation was done in proper and orderly manner.*
