Almost 2,000 indigent and marginalized residents of the Negros Occidental 3rd District, who are qualified recipients of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), availed of help from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, as facilitated by Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez.
The series of distribution of cash assistance, for a minimum of P3,000 to a maximum of P10,000 per beneficiary, in Murcia, cities of Talisay, Silay and Victorias, as well as EB Magalona, went on full swing from August 22 to 26.
A total of 1,947 indigent and marginalized residents of the Third District received medical and burial aid, as facilitated by the Office of Rep. Benitez, in close coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the city and municipal governments, as well as barangay officials.
Of the beneficiaries, 489 are Talisay City residents, 473 in Murcia, 430 in Silay City, 233 in EB Magalona and 322 in Victorias City.
In a statement, Rep. Benitez said that it will continue to facilitate the consistent implementation of the DSWD AICS in the district, through his satellite offices.
AICS is one of DSWDs protective services for the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals covering assistance for medical, funeral, educational, food, transportation and other support services, as well as a resource augmentation support for LGUs.*
